CSC Eligibility

The Career Service Examination Pen and Paper Tests (CSE-PPT) are scheduled for applicants who are not yet eligible but wish to apply for permanent positions or promotions in the government, as well as for employees under job order and contract of service.

According to the Civil Service Commission (CSC), the professional eligibility is required for appointment to second level (technical) positions in the government that require at least a bachelor's degree. On the other hand, the subprofessional eligibility is applicable to first level (clerical) government positions that require less than four years of college studies. However, the professional eligibility may also be used for clerical positions. It's important to note that both eligibilities cannot be used for positions that involve the practice of a profession or are covered by special laws.

The CSC conducts the CSE-PPT twice a year, both for the professional and subprofessional levels, to accommodate the increasing number of examinees.

Bar/ Board/ Honor Graduates CSC Eligibilities

Bar examination passers given by the Supreme Court of the Philippines are automatically granted Civil Service Eligibility. This means that they are eligible for appointment to government positions without needing to take the Career Service Examination.

Similarly, board exam passers given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) are also automatically granted Civil Service Commission (CSC) eligibility under Republic Act No. 1080. This law recognizes the passing of certain professional board exams as equivalent to passing the CSC examination, thereby granting eligibility for government employment. This provision applies to professions regulated by the PRC, such as engineers, nurses, teachers, and accountants, among others.
